Ricky “Rim Rocker” Lopes

History

The much traveled Ricky “Rim Rocker” Lopes, 7’2”, has been a member of the Harlem Rockets for a period of four years.  In between years, he played professionally in Portugal, China, Taiwan and South America.  Ricky joined The Harlem Rockets with a vast amount of experience.  Ricky, a high school All-Starter from Connecticut, prepped at Worcester Academy in Massachusetts where he was an outstanding center.

Lopes chose to take his basketball skills to Champlain Junior College in Vermont.  At Champlain, his team went to the National Junior College tournament two years in a row.  During the first year, the team went to the final four, and the following year, his junior college went to the sweet sixteen.  For his superior play at Champlain Junior College, he earned Junior College All-American honors.

Ricky Lopes, upon graduating from Champlain College, was rated as one of the top five centers in Junior Colleges.  He was heavily recruited by over 50 colleges in the country.  In the final analysis, after carefully scrutinizing the various college offers, he selected Duquesne University for its academics and basketball history.  At Duquesne University when his team went to the third round of the NIT, Ricky Lopes started all thirty games.

The 7’2” giant has his sights set to make it to the NBA.  He had been invited to the Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics and Sacramento training camps.  IF Ricky could sharpen his skills while playing for The Harlem Rockets, George Mitchell, General Manger of The Rockets, feels that Ricky Lopes could make it to the NBA.
