Today's Quote - from Vin Igo - Foxboro
Reporter: ...it was funny.
Side-splitting funny. Hilarious......I couldn't help but smile when
thinking of the games years ago when the Harlem Globetrotters played at the old
Boston Garden and I had the privilege of refereeing. The Globetrotters
were talented, all right. But they weren't any more talented - and didn't
have any bigger hearts - than The Harlem Rockets.
Beverly Pasineau Guldner-ECHS Band
Boosters: Oh what a night! The gym
was literally bursting at the seams. There was not a vacant seat in sight
and while those waiting to buy tickets were told there was standing room only,
the responses were "We don't care, we just want in!" Your guidance and
support in the planning stages of this event go unsurpassed. Your
enthusiasm, willingness to answer all questions, give suggestions and
neverending positive attitude that "all will go well" makes saying "thank you"
seem so inadequate.
Doris Avery - Timothy Edward's Middle
School: Your whole team needs to be
congratulated in the way they conducted themselves during the game and how they
related to the kids after the game was very positive.
Ruthy Olney - Shawsheen School: The audience laughed and cheered throughout the
evening. The half-time show was perfect. Everyone felt they were
part of the action when they headed to the floor to do the macarena with the
Rockets. The entire Harlem Rockets team made themselves continually
available for autographs and were true gentlemen to everyone in
attendance.
Gary Leake - Broadway High School: We would like to thank the Harlem Rockets Comedy Basketball
Show for giving us a fun-filled evening of hilarious basketball. Every
person associated with this event was friendly and courteous. Things were
also run smoothly and professionally. We can't think of a better way to
make money so easily and have fun at the same time!
Andrew Hooker - Star Productions: From beginning to end the show was first class. The
new team members are real professionals both on and off the court. The excitement your players brought to the children was truly
amazing and the entertainment was excellent. The educational message the
team brought to the young children and parents alike regarding "staying in
school and off drugs" was an added bonus that completed a fine evening of comedy
basketball.
Gary Beers - Traip Academy Athletic
Boosters: The basketball skills and the
obvious commitment to kids exhibited by all the Rockets personnel are the
hallmarks of true professionals. Their game and the antics certainly
thrilled our audience with hilarity. The tribute to a youngster with a
terminal illness, made during the game, was most especially
appreciated.
Paul Quinn - MWR: Everyone really enjoyed the show, the comedy was great with
the crowd laughing all night. It was evident that the team can play the
game with the best-awesome players.
Paul White - Police Athletic
League: We would like to express our thanks
for all the smiles and laughter our community received during the game where the
P.A.L. All-stars played the world famous Harlem Rockets. Not only were we
entertained by the hilarious antics of the Rockets members, but also their
high-flying slam dunking skills exhibition. We highly recommend the Harlem
Rockets as the best in family entertainment, as well as a successful
fundraiser.
Janeice Holmes - Chamber of
Commerce: When visiting the various
schools, they reminded the students of simple, but necessary, morals as well as
devoted their complete attention to them. And, although the children found
it fun and were enthusiastic, there were a lot of parents that had an enjoyable
evening as well.
Colonel D. C. Anderson - United States Marine
Corps: The players provided an evening of
great comedy and outstanding basketball. They had us laughing from start
to finish. The players were excellent role models for our young Marines
and the youth of our community.
Kathy Moore - Just Say No: Our community has rarely come together as it did at the
basketball game. Families came, teens and their dates came, young and old
of all ages came and thoroughly enjoyed the event. The players are an
amazing group of men for our young people to look at as positive role
models.
Cindy R. Utz - SG Township: I would like to thank you and the Harlem Rockets for a
performance well done. We were very pleased with the attendance and we
hope to do this again next year.
Beth Larson - Student Government
Advisor: The show was a great experience
for our community and was well worth the time and effort we put into the
planning. The materials that you provided us were a great guideline for
our preplanning.
Cindee Curtis:
Thank you very much for bringing the Rockets to our school. They did a
terrific job. ALL ages had a great time. All responses were
positive. It has been the talk of the town. We haven't had a good
family show in a long time.
Sylvie Sullivan:
I recently had a chance to see the Harlem Rockets for the first time in Swansboro. I have to say it was simply awesome. I had the best time. Great skills and humor were joined together so well...it was like putting the fun back into sports! Yes, playing with a ball can really be an art! I would go back any time. Thank you very much for a great evening!
Dn Brown:
I am a police officer and member of the Mass Assoc. Of Minority Law Enforcement Officers (MAMLEO) and volunteered to help out at the game. at U. Mass. I was priveledged to have been able to have been a part of an event that was nothing less than 'fantastic' due to the Harlem Rockets comedy, ability, and professionalism. I want to personally thank them for a job well done.
Erika:
My family and I recently went to one of your games with the Ballston Spa police department. I just wanted to say how much we enjoyed ourselves. My 2 year old son loved it, that's all he talks about. So I just wanted to say that you guys are great.
Cherie Porter:
Dear Harlem Rockets,
Just a quick note to thank you for visiting Maine. I took my children and some of their friends to see the show last night at USM. I just wanted to thank you for putting looks of shear wonder and amazement on their little faces. You are an incredibly talented group of men, not just in basketball, but in relating to all those young people. I'm sure this all sounds all rather corny, but I wanted to let you know I was dubbed a "pretty cool mom" for taking the kids to the game (not a title easily earned). Thanks for a great family evening and a wonderful childhood memory!
